Our overarching mission and focus on community, is the life and ministry of our founder, Pastor Haywood McElveen Jr., and how his unwavering faith continues to guide us today.
Embracing the Call
Before founding El Shaddai Ministries, Pastor McElveen faithfully served under the leadership of Bishop Michael D. Densmore at the Community Tabernacle of Deliverance Church. His responsibilities ranged; from teaching Sunday School, leading the Men’s Department to serving as a Deacon. Through these formative years, he learned the power of humility, perseverance, and spiritual growth—qualities that would later define his own ministry.
After 12 years of diligent service, he experienced a divine conviction to step into the pastoral role. This led to the birth of El Shaddai Ministries in Norwalk, Connecticut. The church’s name, meaning “The Many-Breasted One” or “The God of More Than Enough,” underscores the expansive nature of God’s grace and provision. From the very outset, Pastor McElveen envisioned a ministry that would reach people from every walk of life, pouring out blessings not just within the church but across the community and beyond, MEGA Ministry, MEGA Resources.
Building “The Blessed Place”
Under Pastor McElveen’s leadership, El Shaddai Ministries became a haven for individuals seeking genuine connection, heartfelt worship, and transformative teaching. His wife, Pastor Marion McElveen, and their three daughters stood beside him, serving with dedication and love. Together, they watched the congregation flourish—both in numbers and in depth of faith.
Pastor McElveen’s favorite motto, “Jesus—Don’t Leave This Earth Without Him,” resonates throughout our church body. It reflects a deep commitment to sharing the life-changing message of Jesus Christ, a conviction that fuels our outreach programs, conferences, and virtual services. Whether guiding new believers or offering sound counsel to those facing life’s challenges, Pastor McElveen made it his mission to demonstrate God’s love in every interaction.
Continuing the Vision
Though our beloved founder has gone on to be with the Lord, his influence endures in every aspect of El Shaddai Ministries. Today, Pastor Marion McElveen continues his legacy by leading with the same compassion, dedication, and biblical insight that defined Pastor McElveen’s work. Our congregation remains “The Blessed Place,” driven by the ambition to gather and develop disciples for the upbuilding of God’s Kingdom, Winning the lost at any cost.
