Meet Our Pastor

Meet Our Pastor: Marion McElveen

A modern-day Proverbs 31 woman and a devoted shepherd to God’s people,  Marion McElveen embodies a spirit of humility, resilience, and unwavering faith. Stepping into the pastoral role at El Shaddai Ministries has been both a profound calling and a continuation of the foundational work begun by her late husband, Apostle Haywood McElveen Jr. Today, she leads with the same passion for God’s Word, fostering a community where everyone is welcomed, supported, and empowered to grow in Christ.

A Calling Fulfilled

From the earliest days of El Shaddai Ministries, Pastor Marion McElveen played a vital part in shaping the church’s direction and cultivating its culture of love and generosity. In 2001, she and Apostle McElveen established this ministry in Norwalk, Connecticut, rooted in the belief that God’s abundance is readily available to all who seek Him. Elder Marion’s life verse, Galatians 6:9, continues to guide her as she navigates challenges and triumphs in service to the Lord:

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

This Scripture has inspired her to remain steadfast through trials and uncertainties—ultimately equipping her to shepherd El Shaddai Ministries through significant seasons of growth and transition.

A Legacy of Service

After demonstrating tremendous dedication and faith, Elder Marion was elevated to her previous  role in 2006 She continued serving alongside her husband, adding her nurturing touch to various ministries within the church. From coordinating events to mentoring new believers, Elder Marion stood as a shining example of grace and perseverance. With an intimate understanding of the church’s vision—“Gather disciples and develop them into Christians for the upbuilding of God’s Kingdom—winning the lost at any cost”—she committed herself to fostering a welcoming, Christ-centered environment.

Following the passing of Apostle Haywood McElveen Jr., Elder Marion faithfully accepted the pastoral mantle. Her heart for people, especially those who feel overlooked or forgotten, forms the bedrock of her ministry ethos. This focus on compassionate service is reflected in every worship service, outreach program, and community event hosted by El Shaddai Ministries.

A Fourth-Generation Calling

Born on September 30, 1961, Apostle McElveen came from a long line of pastors and ministers in the McElveen-Williamson lineage. Growing up in a faith-filled household, he was consistently immersed in church life—singing in the choir, participating in youth ministries, and performing in church plays. These formative experiences nurtured his love for God’s Word and shaped the strong calling he would later embrace.

Despite his humble beginnings, Apostle McElveen’s unshakeable commitment to the Christian faith swiftly became evident. Known for his ability to recall vast portions of Scripture, he was affectionately nicknamed “The Walking Bible” and “The Revelator.” Both names underscore his profound understanding of the Word and his unique gift for revealing its truths to anyone seeking spiritual answers.
